Is sectarianism allowed in Islam?

Assalaamu 'Alaikum! I personally think that sectarianism is totally against Islam. In fact, the Holy Qur'an also supports my statement. Anyone who divides his religion is cursed in the Qur'an. I therefore fail to understand why people have divided themselves into so many sections. But I guess it was inevitable because the Prophet (SAW) had prophecied that his Ummah would be divided into over 70 sects.
Still, I think we should try to bridge our gaps. I think it is right to follow the Holy Prophet (SAW) alone, than to follow Imam "this" or Imam "that". I need your views.

Asalam Aalaikum,

I agree with you, secterianism has no place in Islam and Allah(swt) has criticised those who divide their religion into sects but unfortunately muslims are dividing into different groups/sects. It is their lack of knowledge and awareness that is causing them to divide up. I am pretty sure that if Muslims would be following
the teachings of Qur'an and Sunnah then this would not have happened.
Yes, Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) prophecised in a hadith about the division of muslims in the future and that clearly indicates that what ever division that will happen in the future will be because of the muslims themeselves. Different Muslims interpret Qur'an and Sunnah according to their own understanding and still muslims have disagreement over whether Prophet(pbuh) is alive or not.
I donot understand why muslims concentrate on such issues that have no relevance to Islam. Where does it says in Qur'an that muslims should concentrate and discuss the death issue of Prophet(pbuh).

I have still seen some muslims who donot want to pray in a perticular mosque just because they donot accept Prophet(pbuh) as alive.

These problems werent their when muslims were educated as a whole and what I think is that this is happening because of the intellectual and educational stagnation in Muslim Ummah.

Wa 'Alaikumu Ssalaam! Finally there's someone who agrees with me. I totally agree with you that this is because of intellectual stagnation in the Muslim Ummah. And this is a very serious issue. Up till now, I've only come across one Muslim who is against sectarianism, and you're the second one. What surprises me most is that even the 'Ulemas are either Shia or Sunni. They cannot be called 'Ulemas at all because they don't possess knowledge at all. If they did, they would not be divided. They are supposed to be people of knowledge, yet they contradict the Qur'an! Forget being 'Ulemas, I doubt they can be called Muslims. I'm telling you, this is a very serious issue. Almost the entire Muslim Ummah is divided. Even my mother has no problem in being called a Shia. You'll hardly come across a person nowadays who, upon being asked who he is, will say "Muslim", rather than "Shia" or "Sunni".

Zulfee,

Please donot try to pollute this forum, unless and until you justify your criticism rationally and with explicit evidence no one will listen to you and you will waiste your time not others.

Can you explain which secterian group on Islam is close to the teachings of Islam? Can you prove which perticular school of thought is following the true teachings of Islam? All of them have their own interpretations of Islamic Literature. Some muslims say that Prophet(pbuh) is no longer with us and other muslims say that he is shaheed and is still alive.

Now you tell me Islamic expert who is right? Before criticising this website you should 1st present your argument with reasoning and evidences.

Prove from the Qur'an and Sunnah that the scholars of this website are corrupt followers of Ahl'l Hadith

Mr. Zulfee, I must say that I'm sick and tired of your nonsense comments. All you do is just go around and criticise this website without informing anyone what's wrong with it. If you think these people are bad, then why have you joined their team? If this forum is so full of corrupt people as you say it is, then why don't you unregister? And by the way, what was the point of bringing up the argument on the topic of "sexual behaviour"? All you look forward to is arguments. So according to the Glorious Qur'an, it is you who are cursed. And you just can't stop criticising your Muslim brothers for being Ahl-e-Hadeeth, and at the same time you have the guts to call us Mushrikeen! The Qur'an says, "Woe to every scandal-monger....." That's all you do: spread scandals all the time. If you really believe that these people are the worst form of Ahl-e-Hadeeth, then prove it! If you prove it, I'll be on your side, I'm not kidding!
