Introduction: The subject of discussion, as it arose out of my talk on the points of faith, is whether Laillaha illalah  is the basis of all religion or not. The point of contention was whether Muslims existed before the advent of our last prophet Mohammad (sws).

All Prophets were Muslim

1.  When Allah sent Adam from paradise to the earth he sent with following  instructions:

Surah Maida 2:38

We said: “ Get ye down all from here, and if as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

Note: those who will reject the message of faith brought by an messenger at any time, before or after Mohammad (SaS) will go to hell. What is the faith Allah gives the definition in 2:62 below.

Ayah 2:39 But those who reject faith, belie our signs, they shall be companion of fire.

Surah 2:62

Those who believe in Quran and those who follow Jewish (Scripture), and the Christians and the Sabiens, and who believe in Allah and the Last Day and work righteousness, shall have their reward  with  their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

Note:In the translation of Abdullah Yusuf Ali he says in the foot note as follows:

Quote:

“ The point of verse is that Islam does not teach an exclusivity for  one people. The Jews  claimed this for themselves and the Christians in their origin were a sect of Jews. Some Christian Churches still cling to the idea of Vicarian Atonement, which means that all who do not believe in it ( that Jesus Christ has atoned all Christians) or who lived previously to the death of Jesus (SaS) are at disadvantage spiritually before the throne of Allah. The attitude of Islam is entirely different. Islam existed before the preaching of Mohammad (SaS) on this earth. The Quran expressly calls Abraham a Muslim as can be seen from the ayat 3:65-67 below. It’s teaching (Submission to Allah’s Will) has been and will be teaching of the Religion for all times and for all people.

            Surah Al-e-Imran

3:65 Ye People of the Book why dispute you about Abraham when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Have you no understanding.

3:66 Ah! Ye are those who fell to disputing (even) in matters of which you have some knowledge. But why dispute ye in matters in which you have no knowledge? It is Allah that knows and ye know not!

3:67 Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; But he was upright and bowed his will to Allah ( Hanifun Muslimun- Upright Muslim) and he joined not gods with Allah.

Six Points of Faith

1.      Lailha illallah ( there is no Deity but Allah)

2.      All Messengers

3.      All Books (Divine Scriptures)

4.      Unseen (In-cognisivel)

5.      Last day of Judgment (Qiyamah)

6.      Destiny (record past, present and future in a Book from Allah)

Point 1;Lailha illallah in Quran

21:25  “Not a messenger did We send before thee without this inspiration sent by Us to him: that there is no god but I; therefore worship and serve Me.”

17:2 We gave Moses the Book and made it a Guide to the Children of Israel (Commanding): Take not others than Me as Disposer of (your) affairs.

38:65 Say: Truly am I a Warner: no god is there but Allah, the One Supreme and Irresistible.

Points 2-4

2:1 A.L.M

2:2 This is the Book in it is Guidance sure with out doubt, to those who fear Allah.

2:3 Who believe in Unseen, are steadfast in prayer and spend out in what we have provided for them.

2:4 And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee (Mohammad SaS) and sent before thy time and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

2: 285 The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord and do so the men of faith, Each one (of them) believeth in Allah his Angels, his Books, and his Messengers

Point 6

35:11 And Allah did create you from dust; then from a sperm-drop; Then He made you in pairs and no female conceives or lay down (her load) but with His knowledge. Nor is a man long-lived  granted length of days, nor is a part cut off from his life  but is in  a Book( ordained). All this is easy to Allah.

Conclusion:

The above quotations only from Quran are clear explanation of six points of faith and that if any people at any time believed in Laillahailallah and followed the messenger  of Allah, be he Moses, Jesus amongst  24 listed in Quran or any other messenger out of 124,000 mentioned in hadith, believed in the last day of judgment, and do righteous works they shall have salvation as per Surah 2:62 quoted above.

Finally I also quote quran as follows for every one to ponder on the unity of all religions:

21.92-93 verily this  ummah of yours is single ummah, and I am your Lord and cherisher: therefore serve Me (and no other) But (later generations) cut off their affairs (of unity) one from another. (yet) will they all return to Us.
