Assalamu Alaikum,
It is good to note that you said 'almost impossible' which means that it is possible to purge your mind of dirty thoughts. try as much as you can to always occupy your mind with more positive things. Like if the thought comes when you are in a certain position - change it. But if you are praying seek refuge from the accursed Shaytan and try to move your thoughts from it. Allah has said in the Qur'an that if evil thoughts or whisperings of shaytan comes to your mind seek refuge of Allah from shaytan the accursed.

The mere fact that you want to rid yourself of these thoughts Insha Allah you will succeed. Read more of the Qur'an and dwell on it, also fast more often.

Set your mind on winning this war and fight it, Allah will not ignore your prayers insha Allah and you will attain purity. Consider this also as a test from the All knowing who tests His slaves in whatever form He likes.

may Allah protect us all.

Dear Aslam, you now have the very positive and effective suggestions to act upon.

As I said earlier, there is indeed an immediate connection between Head and Soul. If you will fight to keep your head clean, you will be able to cleanse your soul. Try another suggestion of mine: Get married, if you have not till now, as I know the person of your age should have been.

Marriage is about companionship; as you get a good intellectual companion, you will see that you have many things to think of and also need to discuss them with your companion. This will save you from undesired thoughts. Empty minds serve as a dwelling for Satan. Family life gives you other worries--but beautiful ones!

I’d love to repeat the quote: God is the Way as well as the Destination. Whoever has set out on His way has already found the Destination. So, move we must on. Drag, we must further. With all our heart and soul.

.................The Holy Qur'an itself has not prescribed a specific manner to attain inner purification.........

That is a misconception which lead to the invention of methods to attain purification of soul in the name of Sufism.

Whereas Allah s.w.t. has completed the Deen and the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam has conveyed to us in full.

Please read the complete verse 33:33 and 62:2 and you will understand that Allah purifies one who follows the Qur'an, the Islamic Laws and jurisprudence and also follows the Sunnah, legal ways, orders, acts of worship etc. of Prophet Muhammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Allah s.w.t. says, (translation of the meaning)

[إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُـمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيــراً]

(Allah wishes only to remove Ar-Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with a thorough purification.)

Allah then says:

[وَاذْكُـرْنَ مَا يُتْـلَى فِى بُيُوتِكُـنَّ مِنْ ءَايَـتِ اللَّهِ وَالْحِكْــمَةِ]

(And remember, that which is recited in your houses of the Ayat of Allah and Al-Hikmah.)

meaning, `act in accordance with that of the Qur'an and Sunnah which Allah revealed to His Messenger in your houses.'

And in 5:41 Allah tells us of those whose hearts Allah does not wnt to purify.

I think, "Tazkia Nafs" means purification of mind, thoughts and body.

Fear of God is developed by having the “Solid belief” that He knows, sees, hears…………………., each and every thing all the time.

Having the “Solid belief” that He (Allah) knows, sees, hears…would only make you happy that God is so much interested in you. Why would it create a fear of Him?

Even if what "you think" is correct, where does that phrase "Tazkia Nafs" (which I suppose is an Arabic phrase) appear in the Qur'an/Sunnah?

And according to you the first word means "purification" and the second word means "a combination of three things --- mind, thoughts and body".

Purification of Body

Regarding purification of body we find instructions on several occasions as in the following verses of the Qur'an, 2:222, 5:6, 9:108, etc.

And in several other verses, Zakat and spending out of what Allah has agiven us has been mentioned as a means of self purification, For example see verse 92:18.

I would like to draw your kind attention to Surah Al A'laa verses 14 and 15.

A Statement concerning the People of Success

Allah says,

[قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّى ]

(Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success.)

meaning, he purifies himself from despised characteristics and he follows what Allah has revealed to the Messenger .

[وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى ]

(And remembers the Name of his Lord, and performs Salah.)

meaning, he establishes the prayer in its appointed time, seeking the pleasure of Allah, obedience to His command, and implementation of His Law. It has been reported from the Commander of the believers, `Umar bin `Abdul-`Aziz, that he used to command the people to give the Sadaqat Al-Fitr, and he would recite this Ayah:

[قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّى - وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى ]

(Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success. And remembers the Name of his Lord, and performs Salah.)

Abu Al-Ahwas said, "If someone comes to any of you begging, and he wants to pray, then he should give charity (Zakah) before he prays. For verily, Allah the Exalted says,

[قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّى - وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى ]

(Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success. And remembers the Name of his Lord, and performs Salah.)''

Qatadah said concerning this Ayah,

[قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّى - وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى ]

(Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success. And remembers the Name of his Lord, and performs Salah (Fasalla).)

"He purifies his wealth and pleases his Creator.''

Thus if Allah has Ordered something, He has shown us how to perform also. Allah alone has the right to prescribe and legislate and He does not like those who transgress the limits prescribed by Him.

Brother, the person who has been taught by his Mullah that intercessors are ready to come to his rescue come what may, will not fear Allah. That is the reason why we see "muslims" in all illegal activities.
