Assalamu Allaykum brothers and sisters,

Thanks to God we had three good live discussion sessions with the SI members in the last three weeks. From the beginning our intention was to run these sessions for a few weeks in order to establish them and then to turn them to monthly sessions. We now think that the idea is reasonably established and therefore we are turning this to a monthly session, beginning from the month of June. This will be held between 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM (GMT +1) at the last Wednesday of every month, Insha'Allah, till a further notice.

There won't be any more sessions this month and the next session will be on Wednesday the 25th of June. You will receive a reminder nearer to the time with information about the topic of discussion and how to access.

We hope to see you in the chatroom on Wednesday 25th of June, 7:00 PM (GMT+1).

God bless all of you and our gratitudes to those of you who added value to the last three sessions by their input.

Regards

You mean to say that the chat program will only be for the students of studying-islam.org who are enrolled in perticular courses and can ask only questions related to there course or it will be a general chat program?

I have some suggestions and feedbacks for this chat program.

1)There should be a conference chat as well in this forum.where more than 2 people can chat together.

2)There should be a tech support as well for the chat software inorder to provide support to users.

3)There should be links of Islamic videos and audio files in the chat forum.

4)There should be different sub headings for different topics in the chat program.

The chat session is for Studying Islam members but the questions are not necessarily related to the SI courses, we wlecome any questions related to religion and Islam specifically.

The facility we are outsourcing is Paltalk. Paltalk provides facility for all participants to talk, of course in turn.
Paltalk is a very user friendly chat facility and usually no technical support is needed. In the case of need for technical support, paltalk itself provides this.

Please note this is a voice chat and not a chat forum, therefore providing links to other sources and having sub headings are not really relevant.

This month´s chat session went well yesterday (Wednesday 30th) with interesting discussions (thanks to the participants) on inter-faith topics, including the true meaning of Islam, the history of Bible and some controversial issues with regard to the original texts of Bible and different perspective on foundations of Christianity.

The next session will be on the last Wednesday of August (27th) and the topic for a brief talk at the beginning of the session will be "How to go to Heaven". This as usual will be followed by general question and answer and discussion on Islam.

Report on "Chat Session on Jihad"
Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Assalamu Alaykum,

This month's Studying Islam paltalk session on the subject of Rules of Jihad went well with some good contributions from people who attended.

The next Paltalk session will be on the last Wednesday of the month of November (26th) at the usual time 7:00 pm GMT.
Following the suggestions from people who participated this month, the subject of next session will be Islam and Women, Clarifying Misconceptions.

Some of the participants asked whether it was okay to give the password of the paltalk session to some interested friends who were not SI members. The answer was: Definitly yes!
