Assalaamu’alaikum,
Depression and anxiety are two different conditions but is hard to find an isolated case of these two. They overlap on each other, with one condition usually predominant. The features of these two conditions are entirely different. Briefly, in depression one repents on one’s past and in anxiety one worries about one’s future.
Depression and anxiety are not always abnormal but are normal within the psychological limits (norms) and abnormal beyond the limits, and in either way the treatment lies in Holy Quran, adapting the verse, Baqra-112. Similarly there are many other verses, having the same lesson are also present.
The therapeutic intervention (Drug treatment) is added only in those cases, which are beyond the norms but the major role of the treatment lies in the psychotherapy, which has no effective way of motivating the person other than Holy Quran. So this great book has “Dua” (prayers) as well as “Dawa” (medicine) which are the components of the complete “Zabta-e-Hahat” (Constitution of life), which no doubt, Holy Quran is.
May Allah help and forgive us, Aameen!

The best remedy to treat your depression is by forgiving your sub ordinates otherwise time and again your conscience will keep pulling you down and you will never be able to overcome your depression despite taking multiple pills! This is nature's rule.
This tip specially goes to the ruling class including scholars of the society.

You may say whatever you wish, but do make a research first and produce the reference before making a fool of yourself.

sanwal!!!!that was just a personal opinion by samra. and i agree with her...
to some extent, by forgiving others, u may have reduced some issues to be depressed.
It has nothing to do with making "fool of yourself".
This forum is also for your comments and opinions......not for research purpose only....lols

Safimera...
I vehemently disagree with you so far your conjecture is concerned!

This is a technical issue. Your example is like a pizza making person giving opinion about electronics. You are not giving your statement in your kitchen or drawing room but in front of the whole world. So do not beat about the bush and make fool of yourself.

Wait for the opinion of a Psychologist (who know the subject very well), if available here otherwise do not make others laugh at you.

sanwal my brother!!!==>

I love your innocence and sincerity....

I still believe that this forum is to discuss whatever you think in your mind ....no need for experts.....
this is not school, research centre or office etc.

this is to discuss and share each other's opinion....and learn from each other....

so if anybody disagrees with other's opinion, he/she can just mention it or if there is any evidence in favour of it..just mention that also....

no need to be harsh, my brother....

and by the way!!!! I am on that part of my life where I do not care if somebody laughs at me or considers me fool....lols

Samra & Safimera etc…

If you are struck off understanding, I say this way,

If the people whom you are advising the remedy of depression, are examined by a Psychologist who if declares that these people are not suffering from such disease then what should be your punishment? I challenge you. Go ahead, if you are not wrong………..

If you are repeatedly insisting with confidence about "PERSONAL OPINION", “What is personal opinion of you or anyone else regarding the attack of appendex suppose?” Is there any value of the personal opinion of you or anyone other than the operation or opinion of the specialist? So in such technical cases, the opinion of a lay man like you is no more than a big zero.

Anyone can give his/her personal opinion regarding interpretation of Quran n hadith but never with confidence regarding the TECHNICAL ISSUES about which the personal of even Jamed Ahmed Ghamidi or other scholars is absolutely valueless.

Secondly, after suggesting the remedy of “Forgiving” you are very well admitting that the individual to be forgiven is really a GUILTY one (denied many times). Otherwise Forgiving is a great gesture having great reward.

Quote of safimera

You are very well defining yourself (Surely, no one cares and listens you rather calls you a fool)

What a grandiose delusion is…….! It may pass several evolutionary phases not only resulting in you a fool but the sure mad.

REPLY: Religion does not mean only Islam but all the religions. Psyche of a person is read and interpreted in the context of his/her own religion. Because the religious beliefs are very strong to motivate, therefore they are considered the very useful and powerful tools.

So far an atheist is concerned he/she always has some non religious firm beliefs in his/her daily life. These firm non religious beliefs help the therapist to resolve the problem.

The curriculum of post graduation in Psychiatry is not only Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology etc which are formally included but some other subjects as well. One of these subjects is Sociology to know the social aspects, of various cultures, leading to psychiatric disorders.

Depression leads to poor concentration, memory and intellectual abilities. It’s often characterized by misery, hollowness, and a feeling of unrealistic expectations for ones life.

Left untreated, depression may cause both physical and mental complications.
Attempts to self-medicate the disorder may lead to substance abuse and alcoholism. Suicide is, of course, a major concern with depression. Feelings of despair, guilt and worthlessness make suicide a viable option. Unfortunately, if the individual fails to achieve the goal after the attempt of suicide he repeats the act till his success unless treated properly. So it must be taken on urgent and very seriously, before “Crying over spilt milk”.
