wa alaikum us salam dear sister in Islam

The status of the parents does not change much after the girl's marriage. As she goes away from her parents' house after the marriage, so naturally she is felt less responsible towards them as compare to her brothers. Nevertheless if her parents are really in need of her services, then her husband should play a major part in this situation & be kind enough to release her to serve her parents at their residence or bring them to his home if needed for the said purpose.
In circumstances where she finds contrary views among her parents n in-laws then she should try explain to everyone that on what grounds she is for or against any views.

Q. Also if a woman chooses not to stay with her in-laws n stay in a seperate establishment is she at fault???
A. If she does so then despite the fact that she has the right to do so, it should be a decision of the whole family; wife, husbands & in-laws & not solely of the wife. The physical conditions of the husband's parents should also be given a due consideration.
