mark Muslim men with a perminant sign

In the second module it is mentioned "Circumcision of all male children for hygiene as well as to mark Muslim men
with a permanent sign on their bodies to denote their membership of the
Ummah"

I do not understand the perminanet sign on the body, can it be done by a tattoo or there is a way of doing this ?

Circumcision is itself a permanent sign on the body.

What is the point of having permamnet sign on such a place where no one can see it.Further more now a days people who follow others faith also do it,would they also be considred a member of Ummah. Just a comment.

An important point that helps us resolve this issue is that the Shari'ah has prescribed circumcision. It has not spoken of the wisdom (hikmah) behind it. It is only the understanding of the author which can of course be questioned. Since this Sunnah was inititated by Abraham (sws) under the command of God and the Jews have been using it as a symbol of the then Islamic creed one has all the right to hold that opinion. I would like to reiterate the fact that it is only the opinion and understanding of the author and not something mentioned in the sources of religious knowledge.

Why you need to refer to Jews when you are having the latest version of knowledge from God.Yes you have right to do what ever you wish, but please don’t include any knowledge in a Islamic course without mention the source specially when it is from other than an Islamic source.

What else there in the course which based on yours own understanding and the Jews? You have included only one verse of Quran and one hadith in the whole course, which is very Insufficient.I hope that students are here wish to learn the understanding of Quran and Sunnah regarding the Sunnah and not yours and Jews understanding about it.

When ever I used to read the Islamic literature of any learned and great schelars,it is always comes with lots of verses of Quran and the Sunnah(Ahadith).Don’t you think that an Islamic course should have more verses from Quran and the ahadith so one may have more reliance in it.

Thanks for your comments. we believe that we need to explain things with reference to the realities in the external world. I hope you understand this human element. No body can explain any text or any phenomenon by avoiding reference to the facts known to the audience. I hope this will help. If however you have serious concerns regarding the reliabilit of the course you are requested to deal with the issue in the general forum. This forum aims at clarification of the disucussions within the topic and not on the basic qualification of the same.

Thanks for your comments. I have explained my understanding in this regard. We believe that the Shari'ah has prescribed circumcision. It has not spoken of the wisdom (hikmah) behind it. We can however present our understanding of the possible point of wisdom behind this act. It can by hygene or a mark. I respect your view and hope that others too do the same.

Tariq
