But your friend made a good point that I also came upon.  If the Prophet specifically said that women should not cover their faces during Hajj, then it  was obligatory at other times.  I like to think of this way.  The reason we wear hijab is because we are not to attract the opposite gender.  But more than the hair, dont you think that the face is the center of beauty and what everyone sees automatically.  If you see someone, the first thing you see is their face, and so to me it seems that one should cover their face.

There was  a time when i went to an islamic conference and i saw this other woman.  She was beautiful mashallah.  And i was wondering she has her hair covered, wearing a burka.  But her face is not.  But I know that if another man had seen her, he would definitely be attracted.
